I Am the Consumer Who Wants AI in Everything

As we know, AI is the future, and we have finally reached the tipping point between its theoretical and practical application. It helps us write and get answers to questions we have. It helps generate images. And it helps do many other things that I understand go on in the background. AI promises to make life more convenient, productive, and, well, exciting. It’s already happening.

I’m an early-adopter, and, as the topic du jour, it’s important for me to have an opinion on AI. I love it. Artificial Intelligence. The kind that’s the most powerful is “generative AI,” but it’s important that we apply it responsibly so that we don’t destroy humankind. Or lose our jobs. Some say AI is like a new “wild west,” which is a cool analogy and reminds me of Westworld

With each new application of AI, my interest is piqued, especially when it comes to the products I buy. The words “with AI” are irresistible to me. Among other concepts, they connote “future,” “data,” “innovation,” and “coding,” all of which are core to my identity, though I do not know how to code. Show me the AI version of a product, and I become rapt with anticipation for a vaguely more creative and self-actualizing future. It is nice to see this invoked in the ads.

When I hold an AI-ified product, my potential knows no bounds. Regardless of what it is, it does what it does better, faster, and with more insights. What’s more, it unlocks the true creative genius within me. No longer do I need technical prowess or skill, in anything! My only limit is my imagination. One suggestion for them would be to build an AI enhancement for coming up with ideas of things to do with it. Then I would be unstoppable.

I expect that the product will have a subtle outward signifier of its AI-ness. How else am I to share my taste for a potentially dystopian future with others? A flash of neon blue trim, or a logo that evokes possibility. That or just the words “with AI.” Even with AI, sometimes simpler is better.

I look forward to the AI-exaltation of increasingly mundane products. The toaster. The food processor. The pencil sharpener. All with AI! Perhaps by the time you are reading this, these products will have already achieved this status. Things move very quickly in the world of AI, which, of course, I love.

Someday soon, they won’t have to make the distinction anymore. Such is the incontestable superiority of things with AI, that “with AI” will simply become the default. No one will want to bother with products that don’t predict, analyze, and learn. It’s only a matter of time before AI will be embedded in every part of our lives. Until that day, I, the consumer who wants AI in everything, will seek to embed it in as many parts of my life as brands make possible.
